A SUMMER CONCERT
Saturday 13th July 2024 at All Saints’ Church, Queens Road, Ryde, PO33 3BG

On Saturday 13th July at 7.00 pm at All Saints’ Church, Ryde, Ryde Chorus will present
a concert of music for a summer’s evening.

The choir will perform a selection of choral music by contemporary composers.

Bob Chilcott is a well-established English composer and arranger of both sacred and secular pieces. This choir will sing his arrangements of the Irish traditional song, “Danny Boy”, the 16th century “The Lily and the Rose” and “Be Thou my Vision”.

John Rutter has been described as the master of writing popular choral works. He founded The Cambridge Singers in 1983 with whom he has made numerous recordings. Ryde Chorus will sing his much-loved arrangements of, “Amazing Grace”, “A Gaelic Blessing” and “The Lord Bless you and keep you”.

Ola Gjeilo is a Norwegian composer and pianist. Ola’s music is frequently performed by groups such as Tenebrae and Voces8 and is regularly broadcast on Classic FM. This evening the choir will perform “The Rose”, Ola’s arrangement of words written by Christina Rossetti and “The Ground”, part of his ‘Sunrise Mass for Choir’.

The Musical Director is Jurgita Leistrumaite and the accompanist, James Longford.

Refreshments will be available during the interval.
