This event is slightly different to our previous concerts as we will be joined by a visiting choir, the ROYAL FREE SINGERS from Windsor.
The Royal Free Singers is a large choir led by Benedict Gunner. The group was started over 50 years ago with a small number of parents and pupils from the Princess Margaret Royal Free School in Windsor, where Ben was music teacher. The membership is now well over a hundred. The choir’s repertoire is varied and often challenging, encompassing both well-loved and less well-known choral pieces, as well as lighter works for the summer months. Members undertake frequent tours, both in the UK and abroad and enjoy sharing concerts with other choral communities.
The concert on the 4th July is at All Saints’ Church in Ryde, at the earlier time of 6:30 pm. The programme comprises light-hearted Melodies for Summer from around the UK and further afield.
Tickets are £5.00 for an adult (under 18 free), available on the door. Please note: Tickets are not available online for this concert.
Ryde Chorus are very pleased to welcome the Royal Free Singers to the Isle of Wight and delighted to be sharing this concert with them. We look forward to seeing you there.
